Full description Hosted by Mark Nicholas, it’s a dramatic and highly emotional cooking competition, where the cooks are given the chance to inspire and impress with their culinary talents. The chef crowned the overall winner will also receive a prize of £10,000. Cameras follow as nationwide auditions are held across the country, searching for cooks who believe they have what it takes to win the coveted Best Dish title. The cooks with the most potential are chosen to serve up their signature dishes in front of a no-nonsense judging panel, featuring top chefs Ed Baines, John Burton Race and wine expert Jilly Goolden. After a series of gruelling regional heats, the cream of the cooks then take part in the national finals, culminating in the field being whittled down to three for the grand final: Britain’s Best Starter, Best Main and Best Pudding. In the grand final, the three then present their decision to a studio audience of members of the public and celebrities, before one is chosen as the winner of Britain’s Best Dish.
